As I reflect on 2023 it’s made me realise that there have been a lot of endings this year. To all of you who messaged me with your support at the time of the documentary, along with your stories of your own personal issues with both your own mental health/illness and the mental health/illness of those around you thank you so much for sharing your struggles with me. I was overwhelmed by all the support.

The importance of good friends and family have really been highlighted to me over the last few years. I have parted company with some friends but life moves us on. As we grow and change we can end up drifting apart from people and it’s not always a good idea to try to cling on. Endings can be difficult but they are also essential for our growth.

However, not all endings remain in place. I moved away from my spiritual path a few years ago but over the last 12 months I have started coming back to my roots but with the added knowledge and understanding that psychotherapy has given me. This is taking my work in a new direction. This has been a natural process and even within the Reiki classes I am teaching and the chakra workshop I have been running, I have added in what I have learnt which has brought a more psychotherapeutic approach to my teaching. Nothing stays stagnant and it feels like the wheels are always turning and when I came back to my spiritual path, things made more sense and I recognised things I hadn’t noticed before so I’m excited to see where that takes me.

I am always developing my psychotherapy by continuing with professional development courses. I completed a course in complex PTSD in the Autumn of this year. This taught me the recent understanding about neuroscience which has been so useful to clients in understanding why they are experiencing what they are.

I also did a tarot course that incorporated Jung’s work. This put a whole new perspective on the tarot for me and I have since been using the tarot in the therapy room with counselling clients to establish unconscious patterns of behaviour. I have also used them in single session therapy to help clients understand themselves on a deeper level.

Hypnotherapy supervision was another course I completed over the Summer which means I can now offer supervision to other qualified hypnotherapists.

Earlier on this year I competed my IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) training which has been a real game changer in the therapy room especially for those who have experienced trauma and PTSD.

I cannot recap over 2023 without mentioning my beautiful Miss Ruby who crossed the rainbow bridge in March. She has left a big hole in our lives and I miss her dearly. Clearly a year of endings but with endings there comes new beginnings and I am looking forward to what 2024 is going to bring both personally and professionally.
